Dear friends, partners and colleagues,
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that last Tuesday, our father and founder of Artav Australia, Arturo Taverna, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Arturo was not only our father, but a father figure to all who worked with him.
What started in the 1950s with a talented hairdresser making a name for himself soon turned into a place so popular he opened the doors at 5am and closed them late at night, an environment the best hairdressers and beauty therapists wanted to fulfill their training in and experience. Arturo soon became the household name for hair and beauty in South Australia, opening multiple salons all over Adelaide, growing to over 40 locations over time. His vision of creating local, natural, and sustainably sourced professional hair and beauty products led him to start manufacturing in the early 1960s, and turned Artav Australia to what it is today, producing more than 1,500 products across 6 internationally recognised brands.
Arturo’s ethos of creating a comfortable and supportive environment for his staff and customers, where he was always keen to give of his own time, made anyone who worked with him feel like family. While his own talent and hard work brought plenty of success, he was a humble man who liked to share the credit amongst his team. He has touched many lives positively, including all of ours at Artav Australia.
We have been overwhelmed by messages of support during the last few days and would like to sincerely thank you for your lovely words which have brought us comfort during this difficult time. Sadly, due to current COVID restrictions, Arturo’s funeral will not be open to the public, however we have decided to stream it live for all his friends, business colleagues and associates in Australia and abroad to watch. It will be live streamed here.
The stream will start Wednesday 20th January at 10am for a memorial at the Artav Australia factory. The ceremony will start at 12pm.
We respectfully ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
Lina, Sonia, Anthony, Jeannette and Andrew Taverna
